Waxing at Reveal: Areas, What to Expect, and How to Prepare4 min read

Smooth skin shouldn’t take a lot of effort. If you are tired of shaving every few days, waxing is a simple way to keep hair-free skin going for longer between appointments. At Reveal Beauty and Health, we offer waxing for the face, arms, legs, and body.

This guide covers what waxing is, which areas we wax, how to prepare, and what to expect at your visit. It is general education, and our team will answer any questions about your own skin and comfort level.

What waxing is

Waxing removes hair from the root by applying wax to the skin and then pulling it away along with the hair. Because the hair is removed at the root instead of cut at the surface, regrowth often takes a few weeks rather than a few days. How long it takes varies from person to person.

Waxing is not permanent hair removal. Hair grows back, and most people return for regular appointments to keep the results.

Areas we wax

We offer waxing for these areas:

  • Face: eyebrows, lip, chin, nose, and full face
  • Arms: half arm and full arms
  • Legs: half legs and full legs
  • Body: underarms, back, and stomach area
  • Bikini line: bikini area and Brazilian (Brazilian waxing is offered for women only)

If you do not see the area you have in mind, ask us and we will let you know what we can do.

What to expect

  • A quick sting. Most people feel a brief pull or sting as the wax is removed. Sensitivity varies, and some areas feel stronger than others. If you are nervous, tell us and we will talk it through.
  • Temporary redness. Skin can look pink or feel a little sensitive for a short time afterward, and some people notice small bumps. How long this lasts varies.
  • Smooth skin that lasts. Many people enjoy smooth skin for a few weeks. Hair grows in cycles, so regrowth is not always even. Results vary.

How to prepare

  • Let your hair grow long enough for the wax to grip. We will tell you what length works best for your area.
  • Come with clean, dry skin and no lotion or oil on the area.
  • Avoid sunburn and tanning right before your appointment, since sun-sensitive skin can be more easily irritated.
  • Let us know about any prescription retinoids, acne medications, or other products you use on your skin.

Who should check with us first

Tell us before your appointment if you have sunburned, irritated, or broken skin in the area, a skin condition such as eczema, a history of infections or cold sores near the area, or you use medications that thin the skin or affect healing or bleeding, such as isotretinoin or blood thinners. We may suggest waiting or choosing another option.

What a visit involves

  1. Choose your area. Book the area or areas you would like waxed. If you are not sure, contact us and we will help you choose.
  2. A quick check-in. We confirm the area and ask about your skin, medications, and anything that might affect your comfort.
  3. Waxing. The wax is applied and removed in sections.
  4. Aftercare. We explain how to care for your skin afterward and when to come back.

Waxing questions we hear often

How often should I wax?

Hair grows in cycles, so timing varies from person to person. Many people come back every few weeks. We will help you find a schedule that fits your hair growth.

Does waxing hurt?

Most people feel a quick sting, though comfort varies by person and by area. Let us know how you are feeling and we will adjust our pace.

Can I shave between appointments?

In general, it is best to avoid shaving so your hair can grow to a length that waxes well. Ask us what is right for you.

Is Brazilian waxing available for everyone?

Brazilian waxing is offered for women only. Other areas, including the back and stomach area, are listed above.

How much does waxing cost?

Cost depends on the area you choose. Call or message us and we can tell you what to expect before you book.
